Dr. Clayton W. Harrell was born and raised in Greenport Long Island, NY. He joined the Navy, training in 172 Bainbridge MD and was a Korean War veteran. After leaving the Navy, he pursued his education, learning a B.S. in science from Bryant College, M.B.A. from Hoftstra University and his PhD from the University of Rochester. For 20 years he was an adjunct faculty member of Rochester Institute of Technology.

Dr. Harrell's career was more than just interesting; he was a trailblazer. He worked for Grumman in Bethpage Long Island in the early years of space exploration. Engineering Planner for Research and Space Development, Project Administrator for the Orbiting Astronomical Observatory (OAO). Later he became Chief Plannig Engineer for Project Apollo's Lunar Module and all future space projects.

He later joined Xerox Company where he used much of his technical background to develop and write manuals aimed at developing proficiencies in all aspects of project management. Dr. Harrell was founder of Rensselaer Learning Systems, Inc. and was a consultant for Fortune 500 companies, a lecturer, researcher and educator who wrote for several technical publications.

He loved his airplanes. He was the "YAK GURU" and started the Pilots Yak Club by brining in a Yak plane in pieces, putting it together and flying it home. And it was a beauty. He loved writing articles in the Warbirds magazine.

Sailboats were another love. Living up on Lake Ontario he had a great playground.

Finally settling in Pensacola, he and his lovely wife Maryanne enjoyed a wonderful life with their friends and their rescue dogs, and his woodworking passion.

We are honored to offer Dr. Harrell's treasures in this auction.
