Why Hire an NAA Professional Auctioneer?

 

My father grew up during the Great Depression in South Carolina, a time when just getting enough to eat everyday was a challenge. For folks raised in small towns, the struggle was intense. The lessons learned for people like my father shaped their futures and taught them how to not only make the most of everyday, but to rise above the challenges, make goals, plan, educate themselves and succeed.

 

Our experiences inform who we are; make us what we are. Tobacco auctions were prevalent throughout the South and my father was mesmerized by the auctioneer’s chant. He perfected it. As children growing up in our home, rather than hearing humming or singing in the shower or while cooking, something Daddy adored, the familiar buzz of the auction chant filled our home. My friends were fascinated by this amazing talent my father had.

 

As our family grew, Daddy decided in the late 1970’s to close his successful construction company and follow his heart and open an auction business. He had attended auction school at Ft. Smith, Arkansas, then went to the Missouri Auction School. With that same drive and ambition he had as a child, Daddy wanted to be the best, the cream of the crop, so he enrolled in the National Auctioneers Association’s most prestigious educational program to earn the designation CAI. Certified Auctioneers Institute is a three-year program located at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. Intensive courses of study regarding all things auction are taught to and shared with auctioneers. Less than 900 auctioneers world-wide currently hold the CAI designation. I am proud to be obtaining the CAI designation to offer our clients and buyers the most professional auction experience in today’s rapidly evolving auction industry.

 

Course work to earn the CAI designation encompasses the following:

  • Understanding legal, financial and accounting principles needed to run an auction firm
  • Using technology to enhance your business
  • Promotional Strategies
  • Learning effective methods of selling real estate and personal property at auction

Our business was founded on the principles of the National Auctioneers Association. The National Auctioneers Association exists to provide critical resources to auction professionals that will enhance their skills and successes. So, back to the beginning. Sellers have one good shot at achieving their goals, which can run from simply liquidating assets to cash, settling an estate, retiring and closing a business, or finding the largest qualified pool of bidders to maximum their results.
