About the Auction:
The Estate of Roy Wagner from Gulf Breeze, Florida is offering at auction Mr. Wagner’s collection of African art, artifacts, furnishings and various eclectic pieces he purchased while living in Ghana and the Ivory Coast in the 1970s and 1980s.
What we Know: All of the items shown are believed to be authentic and were purchased by Mr. Wagner while living in Africa. Some pieces are obviously older, which is evident from the photographs and our personal inspection. With reasonable due diligence and time permitted, we have documented the pieces to the best of our knowledge. African cultures are varied and symbolism is inherent in everyday life and the art, as well as everyday items created and used by the peoples of Africa. Sometimes, the art itself is the only documentation remaining. Produced by hand with a variety of woods and metals, including copper and brass, trading beads, cowrie shells, hides, and horns, the collection is beautifully embellished and colored with dyes from plants, fruits and available natural resources. Please feel free to call with questions or discuss the pieces in the auction.
Removal: Thursday, April 2, 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. 31 W Garden St., Suite 205 Pensacola. See the directions under the Directions tab.
